The Lake Blackshear Regional Library System welcomes donations and memorial gifts according to the following guidelines:

Financial Support:

Monetary donations are accepted in the form of cash, personal check, or money order. Please make your check payable to the library to which you are donating. A receipt for your tax-deductible donation will be furnished.
Funds donated are used to support the purchase of new materials for the library’s collection, and you may choose to designate the use of your gift toward adult reading materials, children’s reading materials, the annual Vacation Reading Program for children, or for the greatest need.

Memorial Gifts:

Monetary and book gifts to memorialize and honor individuals are welcome. Donors may give a book or select a title for acquisition with their gift. A book plate will be added commemorating the gift. Both the donor and the honoree (or their family) will receive written acknowledgment of the gift.

Donations of Gently Used Books, CDs & DVDs:

Our library system is happy to accept gently used books, CDs, DVDs in good condition to be sold in our Friends of the Library Book Sale.

Once donated all materials become the property of the library.

A receipt for your donation for income tax purposes will be issued upon request.

To arrange a donation please call the Library Manager to arrange   a drop-off time. Phone numbers for each location are listed below.

Please do not put donations in the book drop.

All donations must be clean and in good condition for resale.

Use only small/medium boxes or bags. If it is heavy for you to lift, is too heavy for us to manage. No large boxes filled with books.

The library can accept a maximum of 5 small/medium boxes of donations per week per family. Our storage space and staff are limited.

The Lake Blackshear Regional Library (Americus) holds a subscription to BookPage, courtesy of the Sumter County Friends of the Public Library, and keeps current copies at the front desk. These are free to the public. Click here to go to the online BookPage.

Our Mission

The Lake Blackshear Regional Library System's mission is to provide organized access to information through various formats and meet educational, informational, recreational and cultural needs of the citizens of Crisp, Dooly, Schley and Sumter Counties, and to improve efficiency in operations.

The Crisp County Library Board meets at 4:00 PM on the first Thursday of January, April, July, and October at the library in Cordele.
The Dooly County Library Board meets at 4:00 PM on the third Wednesday of January, April, July, and October at the library in Vienna.
The Schley County Library Board meets at 5:00 PM on the second Monday of January, April, July, and October at the library in Ellaville. 
The Sumter County Library Board meets at 6:00 PM on the first Tuesday of January, April, July, and October at the library in Americus.
The Lake Blackshear Regional Library board meets at 6:30 PM on the third Thursday of February (in Schley County), on the third Thursday of May (in Crisp County), on the third Thursday of August (in Sumter County), and on the third Thursday of November (in Dooly County).
