Position Title: Marketing & Public Programming Coordinator
Location: Lake Blackshear Regional Library – Americus
Reports To: Library Director
Position Summary
The Lake Blackshear Regional Library is seeking a dynamic, creative, and community-focused
Marketing & Public Programming Coordinator to lead and elevate public programming and
marketing initiatives across our regional library system.
This leadership role provides strategic direction and hands-on coordination of all library
programming for children, teens, and adults across the region. The Manager will also oversee
marketing, communications, and community engagement efforts to ensure the library’s services,
events, and resources are effectively promoted and aligned with our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership in Public Programming
Lead, develop, and coordinate all public programming across the regional library system.
Establish annual programming goals aligned with the library system's mission and
strategic priorities.
Evaluate program effectiveness using data, feedback, and community input.
Develop innovative, inclusive programming that reflects the needs of our communities.
Collaborate with branch staff to ensure consistency, quality, and creativity across
locations.
Oversee system-wide initiatives such as literacy outreach and special events.
Marketing & Community Engagement
Direct all marketing and communications efforts for the library region.
Develop and execute marketing plans to increase attendance, awareness, and
community impact.
Oversee branding, print and digital communications, social media, press releases, and
promotional campaigns.
Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, civic groups, and
community leaders.
Represent the library at community meetings, events, and outreach opportunities.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance and mentorship to programming and public-facing staff.
Participate in leadership planning, strategic discussions, and cross-departmental
initiatives.
Prepare written and verbal reports on programming metrics, outreach outcomes, and
marketing performance.
Contribute to budget planning related to programming and marketing initiatives.
Assist in reviewing and improving public service policies and procedures related to
programming and engagement.
Evaluation & Innovation
Monitor trends in library programming, marketing strategies, and community
engagement.
Implement innovative ideas that enhance customer experience and expand community
reach.
Ensure excellent customer service standards across all programs and public events.
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in Library Science.
Minimum two years experience working in a public library or cultural institution
Experience in marketing, communications, event planning, or public programming.
Demonstrated leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple locations.
Preferred:
Experience supervising staff or coordinating teams.
Familiarity with rural or regional community engagement.

Benefits: State Health Insurance, Teacher’s Retirement System of Georgia, annual leave, sick leave, paid holidays, and Social Security. Salary: $65,000 to $68,000.
